In the performance “We take this shortcoming personally”, the artist, who was born in the East shortly after the fall of the Wall, worked on her own lack of GDR experience. She is looking for feminist role models in the not yet gone but little narrated legacy of GDR action art and Eastern punk.
Adele is a young artist, born in 1990 by chance in East Berlin. It is said that Adele never saw the GDR again. They say don't look back. They say history has shown it. Adele says: Something is missing. In the books, the museums and in the family archive. Adele asks: Which futures have been lost in these gaps?
In a polyphonic scenic setup, Adele and her collaborators consider the moment '89 and the hesitant promises that followed. They find incitement in the perspectives of their contemporaries as well as in their predecessors of action art of the late GDR.
